Candistatin
was specifically developed to help the body
maintain healthy yeast levels in the
gastrointestinal tract. Maintaining the proper
balance of intestinal flora is important for
optimum health and absorption of nutrients.
Most of the time Candida
albicans leads a quiet and harmless
existence inhabiting the intestines, genital
tract, mouth, and throat. Candida's growth is
kept in check by a healthy intestinal flora and
a well functioning immune system. However,
stress and other factors can alter the
intestinal flora.
PhysioLogics'
Candistatin contains caprylic acid and a
combination of herbs, including pau d'arco (5:1
extract) and goldthread that help promote a
proper ecological balance within the
gastrointestinal system.
Caprylic acid is a
medium-chain fatty acid that occurs naturally in
butter and coconut oils. Yet, unlike some other
saturated fatty acids, caprylic acid does not
affect cholesterol levels in the blood. It has
been shown in studies to promote proper
ecological balance in the colon, without
inhibiting the growth of normal bacteria
necessary for good health.
The herb pau d'arco
contains napthoquinones, which promote natural
immunity and a proper ecological balance within
the gastrointestinal tract. Another ingredient,
goldthread, is included for its berberine
content. Berberine, an alkaloid, has also been
shown to support a healthy, balanced ecological
environment and boost the body's natural
immunity. Our goldthread is standardized to
contain 10% total alkaloids, of which roughly 8%
is berberine.
