The red tablets are the original form of this product
and just as safe and effective as the clear. Red is the
version that is sold to the rest of the world and approved
by many countries. We created the clear tablets in
response to the negative view many U.S. health food stores
have on sugar-coated tablets. However, the fact is that
the sugar coating on this tablet actually makes it more
stable and protects the delicate enzymes that are the key
to Wobenzym's outstanding performance. The coating is made
of 16 mg of sucrose. This sucrose adds a little more than
one-half of one calorie to each tablet. An average
teaspoon of sugar contains more than 20 calories.
The red tablet coating helps eliminate the digestive
problems a few users report when taking the clear tablets.
It also removes the sour smell some customers notice when
first opening a bottle of clear Wobenzym. The red-orange
coating is made of Sunset Yellow food coloring. Sunset
Yellow is a common food additive used in cereal, baked
goods, snack foods, ice cream and beverages.
We believe there is virtually no difference in the
clear and red tablet coatings. Europeans believe the
activity of the enzymes is more important than the slight
amount of sugar and the use of coloring.
